Red CROSS INTEGRATED AND REHABILITATION CENTRE FOR ADDICTS
This Centre is striving hard to bring back and sustain the well being of all the persons in the area addicted to narcotic drugs, other forms of drugs and substance abuse/Alcoholism and to prevent all those people who can be prevented from getting into the habit of drug abuse and alcoholism.
Action Plan
The Action Plan is based to achieve the following objectives :-
i) Reduction in demand of Intoxicants by taking preventive
measures towards awakening and education programme.
ii) Identification of addicts and referring them to the Drug De-
addiction Centre for detoxification.
iii) Reduction in supply of Intoxicants by organizing awareness
camps with the active support of youth which are prone to
addiction.
iv) Training of the grass root level workers regarding anti-drug
abuse knowledge.
CELEBRATION OF 5 YEARS OF Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan --Romesh Mahajan National Awardee, Project Director, Red Cross IRCA GURDASPUR
On the grand event of 5 years successful completion of Nasha Mukt Bharat abhiyan run by Ministry of Social justice and empowerment and Indian Red Cross Society Punjab State branch Chandigarh the Red Cross Integrated and Rehabilitation Centre GURDASPUR under the kind guidance and support of Sh. Shiv Dular Singh Dhillon IAS Retd, Secretary, Indian Red Cross society, punjab state branch chandigarh and district administration Gurdaspur organised multiple activities at various places like awareness seminar and pledge taking ceremony at Anand modern sr sec school Gurdaspur, Rattan sagar academy Gurdaspur, Bal Bhawna GURDASPUR, Salaria Auditorium, Army cantonment, Tibri, Tagore memorial sr sec. School and Centre premises itself followed by a rally against drug abuse with the students of Anand modern sr sec school and staff of IRCA and a painting competition on this theme amongst students of slum area school Gurdaspur.
All these activities benefited more than 750 beneficiaries. Sports events like tug off war and bedminton were also organised amongst patients who were under treatment.ay this moment the recovery youth also participated and have their valuable remarks about their successful treatment over there and about the wide publicity of this campaign under the banner of NMBA. The motive to organize these activities was to participate in celebration of 5 years completion of Nasha Mukt Bharat abhiyan by Ministry at GNDU Amritsar. All the staff members headed by Romesh Mahajan, Project director participated in this event with full energy and enthusiasm. All these activities ended with the beat of drums of which we are also giving training of folk dance to clients admitted over there. Our part time driver Sh Janak Raj is an expert in this training.
